The children have thoroughly enjoyed Science Week and have taken part in many activities to do with 'Change and Adapt'.

Reception enjoyed looking for 'pipe cleaner' worms and learning all about camouflage. They also investigated which objects were magnetic and which objects were not.  They had a Science Lab set up all week where the children observed what happened to different powders in water.

In Year 1 the children were making predictions and evaluating which biscuit would be the strongest when wet!  They also imagined they were town planners.  They had to design a town for both people and nature. While Year 2 were finding out how animals change to adapt to their environments and went outside to find and record insects in the school environment.

Year 3 explored some of the remarkable adaptations that allow animals to thrive in different habitats around the world and looked at the changes that are happening due to global warming and how it effects animals in their environments. Year 4 looked at how microplastics are not able to break down naturally and how they pollute our seas which harm marine animals.  They investigated which materials are best at filtering out these microplastics using sand as an alternative. They also carried out an experiment to test which substances were 'acid' or 'alkali' by using red cabbage as a pH indicator.  They observed which colour the substances went when they added the 'red cabbage indicator'.

We hope you enjoy looking at a few of our photos from the week.
