At the start of the week Year 2 made medals out of clay. At the end of the week they painted them with metallic paint to make them extra special.
We watched a clip about the 1992 Olympics where Derek Redmond showed his courage in the 400m despite sustaining a hamstring injury. The children discussed what they might do in his position and were stunned and in awe when he and his finished the race. We discussed some other 'Sportsmanship' qualities like friendship, perseverance and determination which makes athletes and Parathletes the best in their sport.
We've had a fantastic week of learning about the Olympics and Paralympics and are very excited to watch them during the Summer.
