We have been very busy in Year 4 since our last blog. This week we have started our rehearsals for our production of ‘Pirates and Mermaids’. The children are enjoying singing the songs and performing their part. Today they also got to visit Homer school to practise the songs for the Hexagon along with other schools from RBWM.
In Maths, we have continued with our work on decimals and understanding how to divide a 1 and 2-digit by 10. The children made the numbers using counters, then moved all the counters one place to the right. The children also explored hundredths as decimals.
In English, we have continued with our poetry work. The children read the poem What is Pink? by Christina Rossetti. They then thought about what different colours mean to them. Using abstract nouns and different phrases they wrote their own poems.
In PE, the children started Athletics and learnt how to throw a foam javelin. While, in French, the children enjoyed role playing a café to practise their French vocabulary.
The children have also been busy using the new IPads practising their times tables ready for the Multiplication Tables Check next week.
