Year 1 have had a busy week of learning (in a very warm classroom!)

In maths we have been looking at capacity and volume. We worked in table groups to find out which container had the biggest capacity. We counted how many cubes fitted into each container and recorded our results.

Our science topic is still animals and we have been learning the words carnivore, herbivore and omnivore. We grouped animals according to what they eat. We heard the story of 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff' and had to help the goats by coming up with a menu for the troll so he would stop eating them. We found out the troll was an omnivore and had some super meal ideas.

In English we have been looking at the story 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch.' We worked in groups using drama to retell the story.

We really enjoyed seeing each others baby photos in PSHE and talking about how we have changed and what we can do now that we couldn't do when we were a baby.

Our History topic is the seaside and we created lovely pictures of the seaside. Our pictures included labels.

At the beginning of the week we went outside to practice for Sports Day. We then enjoyed a game of duck duck goose. We really enjoyed our Sports Day and did a super job of taking part in all the activities and having fun.

Please do look at the slideshow below for pictures of our lovely learning.
