On Monday morning, we wrote our prediction for the end of a variation on a familiar fairy tale alongside this we expressed an overall opinion on the story. In a shorter than usual maths lesson we practised telling digital and analogue times. Due to the incredibly hot weather, lunch time play was brought forward so that children could lay outside before the temperatures started to peak. Children also benefited from some cooler indoor play. In the afternoon, we were lucky enough to watch the dress rehearsal of the Year 4 play.
On Tuesday, we began the day with a dance lesson followed by singing practice for all the end of year events. Again, extreme temperatures dictated an earlier lunchtime play followed by some cooler indoor activities. In the afternoon, we drafted and then wrote a perfect copy of our report comment and followed this with an art activity related to one of our end of term events.
On Wednesday, we began the day with our weekly spelling test. In English, we practised speech punctuation and then drew a story map for Jim and the Beanstalk in preparation for a retelling. Telling digital and analogue times and converting between the two were the main activity of our maths lesson. Working outside in the afternoon, we made prototypes of coin purses adapting these by adding extra detail such as decoration. Then we made observational drawings of some toy cars.
In our science lessons we have been looking at the parts of a plant and the role they have. Last week we started an investigation to test how the stem transports water through it. This week we checked our results and found the holes in our celery had turned blue where our coloured water had been sucked through the stem!
