Year 4 have had a very busy couple of weeks back at school.  On our first day back, we went to Sky Studios where the children had the opportunity to create short video trailers to promote their stories they had written in class last term. They had a fantastic time and what a great opportunity it was!

In Science, the children have been investigating solids, liquids and gases.  They had to sort the different objects into the correct category while thinking about their properties.  The children then came up with different questions they could test to find out the properties of a solid. The children then investigated the properties of solids, liquids and gases to see if they change shape, flow and compress.

In Maths, we have been investigating the 11 and 12 times tables, using our knowledge of our 10 times table.  The children drew arrays to help them.

In English, we have started our new unit on Myths and Legends and have been reading the book ‘Selkie’.  The children have produced story maps of the story to help them re tell the story next week.

In Music, we listened to ‘The Choir makes music’ and identified the structure and texture.  The choir used their bodies as instruments to make the sound of a rainstorm.  They clapped their hands, clicked their fingers and stamped their feet. We made our own versions and performed them in front of the class.

In Art, we looked at the work of Andy Goldsworthy who is an environmental artist, who uses natural materials in his sculpture and land art. We went outside and made our own art using natural materials from the playground.

We finished off the week with a visit from Mr Best’s puppies that we have been following since they were born. I think we would all like one to take home!
