Year 3 have had a very busy week with the lead up to Christmas fast approaching and our usual curriculum work.

In Maths, the children have continued with our addition and subtraction unit.  They have been learning to use estimates to check our answers are correct and making compliments to 100 with any 2-digit number.

In English, the children have been practising a range of poetry styles including rhyming couplets using rhyming nouns and similes. They have written some lovely verses and tried to make the poem flow with a rhythm as you read it.

In Science, they have been exploring magnetism and this week we investigated the strength of different magnet types. We tested a bar, ring and horseshoe magnet to see which held the most paper clips then showed our conclusion using a bar chart to show which was the strongest.

We all enjoyed our Christingle service but the children also enjoyed making them and learning about why we celebrate with them and the history behind the first Christingles too.
