Year 1 have had a super week of learning this week and really enjoyed book week.
We have completed activities for book week like reading with a buddy in Yea 3/4, making our own bookmarks, writing book reviews and of course dressing up as book characters.
In science we have been learning about animals. We have been thinking about the features of different animals and putting them into groups- mammals, amphibians, reptiles, fish and birds. We chose an animal and had to describe them, seeing if a partner could guess our animal.
In maths we have been making number bonds to 20. We used the tens frame to help us do this.
Over the last couple of weeks we have been reading non-fiction books and learning about Tim Peake. We made our own non-fiction books that included headings, pictures, a contents page and front cover.
We have been learning about the United Kingdom and learnt about Scotland this week. We enjoyed making a tartan pattern using paper and weaving.
Our DT topic is fruit and we will be designing and making our own fruit kebabs. This week we tasted fruit and decided which fruit we liked and used a word to describe the taste. Year 1 really enjoyed this!
