Year 1 have had another week of super learning and we even got to enjoy some learning outside in the sunshine!

In Geography we have been learning about the United Kingdom. This week we focused on Scotland and learnt about famous landmarks, their national flower and traditions like wearing kilts. We then used paper to weave and create our own tartan pattern.

We are going to be making fruit salads as part of our DT topic. We tasted fruit this week to see which fruit we would want to include. We had to think of words to describe the taste like sour, sweet and juicy.

In English we are looking at poetry. We are focusing on rhyming poems and had to find the rhyming words in a Space poem. We then thought of our own rhyming words that we are going to use in our own Space poems next week.

In Maths we have been looking at subtraction and used a number line to jump backwards.

In phonics we focused on the alternative e and the alternative o sound. We enjoyed playing games with a partner which include reading and writing the words.

We have been looking at plants and seasons in Science. We went on a scavenger hunt around the playground to see which signs of Spring we could find. We found a birds nest, yellow flowers, spiky leaves, smooth leaves, a spider, a spider web and much more.

In computing we became Maze Explorers and were using direction keys to complete challenges. We will be learning how to create and debug a set of instructions. We also enjoyed completing a Spring jigsaw puzzle.
