Last term, in DT the children investigated how torches worked and then applied this knowledge to create their own torch using a plastic bottle and different components. They then had to design their own ‘hands-free’ headlamp for someone walking their dog at night. This term the children made their headlamps. They used bulbs, batteries, wires, switches and material. They had so much fun even if some parts were very fiddly. The children also designed posters to advertise their product.
In English, the children wrote a recount of their Easter holidays ensuring that they used time adverbials, conjunctions and paragraphs. It was lovely to read about what they all did in the holidays. In Science, the children were identifying different habitats that animals and plants live in, constructing a food chain for a given habitat and identifying the producer, predator and prey in a food chain.
During the Easter holidays, for homework some of the children chose to make an Anglo-Saxon village. It was lovely to see what they had made and for them to show the other children and explain how they made them.
On Thursday, the children celebrated Easter at our Easter Service in the church. They sang their song beautifully and we were very proud of them. We finished the week with an Easter hunt in the playground – thank you to the TSSSA for organising it.
