Year 1 have had another super and busy week of learning.

In science we went over our learning on grouping animals and looking at their features. We focused on birds and read information pages to find out facts.

We really enjoyed seeing each others baby photos as part of our PSHE lesson on how we have changed. We shared the photos, guessing who they might be and writing 3 ways we have changed.

In maths we are looking at measuring. We started by comparing lengths and heights and then used rulers to measure in centimetres. We picked objects around the classroom to measure.

We are going to be making our own treehouse models in DT and are spending the next couple of weeks practicing how to make structures and shapes using straws and pipe cleaners. We enjoyed making different shapes and were very good at it.

Our PE lesson this week was focusing on sports day and making sure we are ready to have lots of fun. We practiced our running and enjoyed playing some running games. We also focused on teamwork.

In English we are looking at the story 'The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch.' We heard that the pesky seagulls were back and Mrs Grinling needed our help to think of a new disgusting sandwich idea. We were very good at coming up with some horrible sandwiches!

Year 1 also took part in the phonic screening this week. I am proud of them all and the hard work they have put in.
